Volunteer FAQs

  • Individuals and groups are welcome to volunteer as often or as little as they like.

  • Most volunteer opportunities do not have age restrictions for volunteers. We ask that there is a guardian for every six children within the volunteer group.

    The only opportunities that will have age restrictions are the following:
    Kitchen Volunteer Opportunities: Ages 12 & Up
    Dorothy Day House Volunteer Opportunities: Ages 18 & Up

  • Group size depends on the project.

    Kitchen: Up to 4.
    Pantries: Up to 12.
    Bright Sky Food Truck: Up to 4.

  • Requirements depend on the opportunity. General donation sorting, assisting at the food pantries, or helping serve food in the kitchen do not require background checks.

    Activities that will be directly engaging with guests will require background checks.

  • Yes! If you do not have an email you can sign up using @example.com to create an account. We recommend:
